**Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first** The Data Scientist II uses mathematics, statistics, business analysis, and technology to deliver advanced analytic solutions. The ideal candidate for this position is well-versed in a variety of statistical techniques and understands how to navigate ambiguous business challenges. Desired characteristics for candidates are experience with healthcare and/or survey data, Medicare Stars knowledge, and advanced statistics and machine learning expertise. The Data Scientist II will be a part of Member and Provider Analytics, a team which uses data science, business intelligence and Stars expertise to solve meaningful problems for Stars business partners. Our analytics drive Humana's Stars performance and improve the health and life of our members by transforming data into advanced analytic solutions. The Stars program is the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) five‐star quality rating system for measuring Medicare beneficiaries' experience with their health plans and the health care system. The program is a key component in financing health care benefits for MA and MA‐PD plan enrollees. In addition, the ratings are posted on the Medicare Plan Finder website to help beneficiaries choose the right plan offered in their geography. Quality metrics include screenings and vaccines, managing chronic conditions, member experience with the health plan, member complaints, interactions with providers and customer service. This quality measure of Humana's Medicare Advantage product offering directly impacts our members' health. The Data Scientist II uses machine learning and statistics to deliver business solutions based on large structured and unstructured data sets and exercises good judgment in their use of methods and in their communication of results. The Data Scientist II applies the appropriate statistical techniques to solve complex business problems and influences business partners to make data-driven strategic decisions. **Responsibilities include:** + Collaborate with business leaders to understand challenges and objectives, identify opportunities, and propose solutions + Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights + Develop and implement advanced statistical models to solve complex business problems + Validate and interpret model results to provide actionable recommendations + Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful completion of projects + Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders **Use your skills to make an impact** **Role Essentials** + Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or any other field + 2 years or more of experience in data science or analytics + Experience manipulating and analyzing various types of data using Python, SAS, R, or similar software + Demonstrated experience in creating projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and operations + Clear and concise oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex methodologies and analytical results to higher-level business insights and key takeaways **Role Desirables** + Advanced in Python programming and predictive modeling + Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, RShiny + Work experience in a health care and/or insurance setting + Proficiency in understanding the CMS Star Rating program, including measures within it + Experience developing solutions using Databricks, Azure Synapse and/or other cloud-based computing platforms + Expertise in machine learning and stochastic modeling techniques **Additional Information** As part of our hiring process for this opportunity, we will be using an interviewing technology called HireVue to enhance our hiring and decision-making ability. Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required. **Scheduled Weekly Hours** 40 **Pay Range** The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. $89,000 - $121,400 per year This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
